As we are now experiencing beautiful Autumn weather in Melbourne, we can enjoy seasonal flowers.

May marks a period where gardens and floral arrangements are complimented with warm hues and diverse textures, reflecting the changing season. Embracing these flowers not only enhances our living spaces at our homes and office spaces but also supports the local growers and promotes sustainability.

Here is our list of what flowers are in season in Melbourne right now:

1. Tulips: While traditionally associated with Spring, certain Tulip varieties are cultivated to bloom in Autumn, offering vibrant colours and classic forms. We have a good supply of yellow, red, orange and white tulips in store which are grown in the Dandenong Hills, about 45 km from the Melbourne city centre.

2. Roses: Locally grown roses are available all year round but are especially popular for Mother’s Day (second Sunday in May). Roses are available in all colours, from white to red, to pink, yellow and orange. We find the locally grown roses are longer lasting that imported roses. Our roses are grown in glasshouses on the outskirts of Melbourne, about 45km from the Melbourne city centre. Locally grown roses are picked, bunches and stored in fresh water. They are grown in glasshouses so we can enjoy premium quality longer lasting roses. Our selection of locally grown roses have a delightful fragrance and lush green foliages, making them a popular gift for birthday and anniversary celebrations.

3. Snapdragons: These flowers have long stems with florets growing up the stem. They come in a variety of colours. The most popular colours are pink and white, however they are also available in yellow, orange and purple.
4. Stocks: Known for their spicy fragrance and dense flower clusters, stocks add both scent and texture to floral arrangements. Locally grown stocks are available in white, pink, mauve and purple colours.
5. Sweet Peas: With their delicate petals and subtle fragrance, sweet peas are a beautiful addition to any bouquet. We have them in store in white, pink, and purple colours.
6. Chrysanthemums: Often referred to as the flower of the Autumn season, Chrysanthemums (also known as ‘Mums), are the emblematic flower for Mother’s Day. Their vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow and burgundy mirror the colours of falling leaves, make them a popular choice for both floral arrangements and gardens. You can also find white and cream colour disbud Chrysanthemums, which look like pillowy clouds, and give a luxurious texture to floral bouquets
